Samsung is one of the most popular manufacturers of electronic devices in the world. Moreover, the Korean giant is a major corporation that is seriously trying to compete with Apple. Even the greatest times, however, stumbles happen - yesterday we informed you on the pages of our website that the new system for cleaning unnecessary files in Samsung phones is dangerous. Today I have prepared an article for you about an error in the graphics layout of the Galaxy S9 smartphones, which causes any website to be able to restart the smartphone at any time.
Who is at risk of a device error?
The situation in which the phone is exposed to an accidental restart was discovered by the employees of GraphicsFuzz, which tests the stability of graphics systems that can be found in devices available on the market. As shown by the data presented, the error can be found in Galaxy S9 phones, which work under the control of a potentially better Snapdragon 845 system - so these are devices, among others from the United States or Canada. The flaw discovered by the GraphicsFuzz team can be extremely bothersome for users - the bug causes that a properly crafted website can restart any version of the Galaxy S9, which has the current version of Qualcomm's graphics drivers and works under the control of the Snapdragon 845 system. the following video prepared by the editors of the XDA-Developers website.

What is the cause of a freshly detected error?
According to the information provided by GraphicsFuzz, the restart of the device is caused by faulty Qualcomm drivers that manage the graphics system. An attempt by a user to enter a properly prepared website (e.g. as part of a malicious joke) triggers the process responsible for rendering graphics. Unfortunately, due to a bug, this procedure cannot be completed - the graphics chip begins to use more and more memory to complete rendering, which in turn leads to a state where the kernel refuses to cooperate and restarts the device. Interestingly, this situation only occurs in the Samsung browser, which does not cut off the process of access to resources - competing solutions already have it built-in, which causes the smartphone to freeze only for a few seconds.

Is my device at risk?
If you are using the European version of the Galaxy S9 smartphone, you are currently safe - the graphics processor in the version available on our market successfully renders the objects required by the test. It is worth remembering, however, that suspensions can also happen on other smartphones that work under the control of newer Qualcomm processors, such as Snapdragon 845 or Snapdragon 835 - if you have such a device and use the Samsung browser, then know that a situation similar to the one described bye me higher may happen with you someday. Let's hope, however, that the manufacturers will decide to update the drivers by then.
