You may remember that earlier this month I made a post about the "Your Phone" application. I then pointed out that its functionality would have been much better for me if it had been introduced 10 years ago, when I was still using tools such as SMS. There was quite a big discussion under this post, in which several people declared that they use the program and are very happy with it. I must admit that after writing the material, the application was already on my computer. Still, I didn't send a single SMS from it and I had to turn off most of the notifications (because they duplicated those from applications on the computer - Messenger, Twitter, Slack, etc.), but I happened to receive a few calls through it or transfer a photo to the computer . However, I'm sure I'll start using it more soon, because Microsoft has just announced that Windows Insiders will receive the new Preview Build 19619.1000, and with it new functionality for Your Phone.

The latest feature in the Your Phone app allows you to control music apps on your paired smartphone. According to information on Microsoft's website, the user will be able to see which application is currently playing music and perform basic operations - stop and play a song, and skip and go back to the previous piece. The option to change the sound source will be hidden in the context menu.
The application is to be integrated by default with the most popular streaming services: Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, Google Play Music, YouTube Music, Xiami Music and Google Podcast. However, Microsoft points out that it will also be possible to add your own application to the program. So I hope that people who use traditional Android music players will be able to take advantage of the feature. This would give the application a lot more uses. The one I can think of right away is, for example, a situation when we are traveling and we do not want to make our phone a portable hotspot to use Spotify on a laptop. It will also be appreciated by people who, after coming home, do not want to turn off the music to connect headphones to the computer. There are as many possible applications as there are users, and although this functionality is very limited for now, looking at the fact that Microsoft seems to be working hard on the Your Phone program, I am of the opinion that this is not the last word of the company on this matter.
Microsoft ♥ Samsung
The more inquisitive in the screen above may have noticed that the Your Phone application presented there differs from others with an additional function called "Phone Screen". No, this is neither a bug nor an element of the mentioned Preview Build. However, this is the result of the intimacy of Samsung and the company from Redmond. Owners of models from the Galaxy series, i.e. S, A and Note, will soon be able to stream to the computer screen of their smartphone's desktop and perform operations on it. It allows e.g. to browse applications, operate in them and transfer files up to 512 MB from and to the phone by "drag and drop". The tweak is now slowly rolling out to all newer Samsung devices. It has not arrived on my Galaxy A40 yet, but when it appears - I will gladly start using it.

DPDawid PacholczykOf course - I'll hold off on assessing how the new elements of the Your Phone application work until I use them. However, it cannot be denied that Microsoft puts a lot of work into turning this program from a curiosity into a really useful work tool. If it works stably, it means that the company has taken an incredibly big step to beat Apple in what it was strongest in - creating an ecosystem. While you can display the iPhone screen on a Mac, for example, copying files is not so easy. Especially since iOS still doesn't have a full-fledged explorer like Android.
And yes, there is still a lot of work ahead of Microsoft, if only to give all Android users the ability to manage files. However, looking at how quickly the tool in question is developing, I am excited about what the Redmond company has prepared for us in this topic.
