iPhone SE (2020) is one of the best-priced products in the entire Apple catalog. What are the company's further plans for the next generation of this smartphone? We present the latest rumors, leaks, and confirmed information about the iPhone SE 3/2022.
iPhone SE 3/2022 - Release date
Apple's approach to the iPhone SE was not always entirely predictable. The original iPhone SE came out in March 2016 and - apart from expanding its base storage in March 2017 - the next update in the form of the iPhone SE (2020) did not arrive until four years later. Apple discontinued the iPhone SE in 2018, leaving many suspecting that sales of the budget iPhone would not continue.

The arrival of the iPhone SE (2020) in April 2020, however, was a welcome addition to the company's current lineup, which signaled that perhaps Apple had noticed the potential in this type of device.
Here are the release dates of previous iPhone SE generations:
Industry observers speculated that the next iPhone SE could premiere in the fall of 2021. However, looking at previous releases, the most likely date for the presentation of the iPhone SE 3/2022 will be the first half of 2022. This information is supported by a DigiTimes report from July, which also suggests that Apple is preparing to launch the next generation iPhone SE in the first half of 2022.
Interestingly, Apple has quietly stopped selling the 256GB storage version of the iPhone SE (2020) (although it still remains available through independent retailers and carriers). The move could signal that development on the next iPhone SE is indeed underway.
iPhone SE 3/2022 - Price
We don't think Apple will stray too far from the current price list - the price of the iPhone SE 3/2022 will most likely stay the same, as with its predecessor.
This is the current price list of all iPhone models available on the Apple website:
The current iPhone SE (2020) costs PLN 2199 and we hope that the third generation of this smartphone will also be so priced.
iPhone SE 3/2022 - What can we expect?
Since Apple still has to confirm work on the new iPhone SE, there are no official details about this smartphone at this time. Of course, that didn't stop the rumors from circulating.
5G connectivity
The most obvious addition to the new model will be 5G connectivity. All iPhone 12 models that arrived in 2020 had this feature. Additionally, all Android smartphones in this price range also offer 5G connectivity. Models like the OnePlus Nord, Motorola Edge, and Realme 7 5G boast this feature. This information is supported by a report by Macotakara, a Japanese Apple-centric site with high credibility.
However, this is not a certainty - both the iPhone Xr and iPhone 11 did not have 5G connectivity. If the iPhone SE 3/2022 is to be modeled on these models, 5G connectivity may be omitted.
A15 Bionic
If Apple continues on the same path and releases an update to the iPhone SE in 2022, we consider it likely that the iPhone SE 3/2022 could include the A15 Bionic processor known from the iPhone 13.
It won't be a disaster if it doesn't though - the A13 Bionic is still a very fast processor. However, analyst William Yang believes that the next iPhone SE will feature an upgraded chipset, and Macotakara goes a step further by suggesting it will feature the A15 Bionic.
New design
While many expect an upgrade to the design of the iPhone SE, the change in design may have some consequences. Moving to a larger iPhone XR or iPhone 11 case would mean removing Touch ID. Face ID, however, is a very well received and developed function over the years. Apple also still stocks the construction materials from previous models, further reducing the possible cost of building devices that incorporate it.
UPDATE 10/22/2021
An interesting design of the new iPhone SE has hit the web
iPhone SE is the cheapest smartphone in Apple's portfolio. The device first appeared on the market in 2016. After four years, the giant from Cupertino decided to introduce a new model. Smartphones from the SE family, which have appeared on the market so far, used proven components known from older models. The 2016 iPhone SE was an upgraded iPhone 5s, and the 2020 iPhone SE currently on sale is a refreshed iPhone 8.
More rumors about the next generation iPhone SE have hit the network. They assume that Apple will eventually completely redesign its cheap iPhone. The smartphone would have a look similar to the current generation iMac with a 24-inch screen. Unfortunately, in the information we will find information about the release date. It will only happen in 2023. However, without being discouraged by the long waiting time, we can see what the new iPhone SE should look like, and there is something to look at.
The fourth generation iPhone SE concept looks like a mix of iPhone 12 mini/12 with the latest iMac. The smartphone has a flat front and back, and the whole is complemented by cut edges and rounded corners.
The smartphone finally has a fully gateless screen. Interestingly, there is no cutout in the screen. The camera has been placed directly in the panel, as in many Android smartphones. This was possible due to the lack of Face ID. The cheap iPhone model still uses Touch ID. This time the fingerprint reader will be in the power button. We already know this solution from the iPad Air 2020.
An analyst Ross Young reports that Apple is working on two iPhone SE models. We are talking about an improved version of the currently sold iPhone SE 2020 and a completely new design. The first model will receive 5G and a faster processor, and the second will receive a new design and an improved camera.
iPhone SE on the latest renders looks sensational. The smartphone does not have a cutout in the screen and has kept an elegant design. The only blemish is the waiting time. The new model will appear on the market in about two years. Until then, the cheap iPhone will offer a 4.7-inch screen and large bezels.
Apple prepares to announce iPhone SE 3 in 2022
Apple is rumored to be preparing to announce iPhone SE 3 (as the source calls it) ) in early 2022. According to reports, the Cupertino-based company has created new jobs for chip probing specialists through its partner Xintec.
Xintec is responsible for the quality testing process and is a subsidiary of TSMC. It is also a long-term partner of Apple, which worked as a supplier of components for the first iPhone SE, as well as SE (2020). The new information is in line with the predictions of Ming-Chi Kuo - Apple may release the successor to the iPhone SE (2020) in the first half of next year. Let's hope that's the case.
iPhone SE 3 coming soon? Apple starts removing iPhone SE (2020)
Until September, iPhone SE (2020) was available in three configurations: 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. However, as it turned out, after the presentation of the new smartphones from the iPhone 13 series, only the first and second of these capacities remained available in the Apple online store. The prices of these configurations have also not changed.
According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to update the iPhone SE model in the first half of 2022. The current one launched in April 2020, so the removal of the 256GB variant could be a sign that Apple is starting to gear up to produce this particular model.
iPhone SE 3 will disappoint? We're not used to it by Apple
It's been known for a long time that Apple focuses on the production of only expensive or very expensive smartphones. The exception is the presence of SE models, which are characterized by high performance and reasonable compromises that positively affect the price of devices.
Apple is currently preparing to launch the third generation iPhone SE. The device will debut on the market in the first half of 2022. Unfortunately, we may not be pleasantly surprised.
Apple has been focusing a lot of attention on the displays used in its devices since last year. ProMotion has appeared on tablets, phones and notebook computers. New models equipped with Mini LED and OLED panels are constantly appearing on store shelves.
Unfortunately, the above-mentioned updates will bypass iPhone SE entirely. According to the latest rumors, the phone will continue to offer a classic IPS LCD screen called Liquid Retina.
iPhone SE will be the only flagship device with a high-performance processor and IPS LCD display.
The smartphone may receive a housing known from the XR and 11 models and components from the latest iPhone 13 mini. The phone will still be available in the basic version with 64 GB of built-in storage. The price will remain unchanged and will be PLN 2,199.
iPhone SE 3 may feature iPhone XR design and Touch ID
According to Chinese site MyDrivers, iPhone SE 3/2022 will feature iPhone design XR and Touch ID. It will also be the last iPhone with an LCD display.
A machine translation of the report explains that the design of the third-generation iPhone SE is based on the 2018 model. What's more, it will come with a Touch ID fingerprint scanner built into the side button, as well as an LCD display, A15 Bionic chip and 5G connectivity. The report noted that the device is expected to be the last iPhone with an LED display.
MyDrivers has acknowledged that this claim contradicts other recent claims that the third generation iPhone SE will continue the design of the current second generation iPhone SE. iPhone SE (2020) currently has the same design as the discontinued iPhone 8.
The vague rumors surrounding the design of the next iPhone SE have been mixed with information from reliable sources such as Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young. Initially, it was said that the device would come with a 6.1-inch display, the same as the iPhone XR, but with a side Touch ID button. This year, Kuo and Young backtracked, saying that the third-generation iPhone SE will instead have the same design as the current model with a Home Button.
Some of this confusion may only be cleared up with the launch of the iPhone SE 4. Young expects the fourth generation iPhone SE in 2023, which will be equipped with a 6.1-inch display and a distinctive note. MyDrivers reports that the third generation iPhone SE will premiere in the spring of 2022. The device is to have a standard storage capacity of 64 GB, and its suggested retail price is to remain the same as for the current generation.

When will Apple unveil the iPhone SE 3?
Market analysts and well-known journalists dealing with Apple's equipment announce that the October presentation - where we saw the new MacBook Pros - was the last launch event of the company this year . We will have to wait until March 2022 for the next Apple conference.
We expect that this is when the next budget iPhone will be presented. All previous leaks and premieres of previous models indicate that it is during next year's spring press conference that the iPhone SE (2022) should appear. This device will receive components from the iPhone 13 and a housing that we know well from the iPhone 11.
LeaksApplePro also reported that Apple's next press conference will take place in March 2022. In addition to the expected third-generation iPhone SE, we should also see a 27-inch iMac with an Apple Silicon processor and a refreshed Mac mini. It is also possible that the whole thing will be complemented by a redesigned MacBook Air with an Apple M2 processor.
March it is.

Leak: iPhone SE 3 Delayed, but iPhone SE Plus Coming Soon
Earlier this year, it was reported that the iPhone SE 3 with 5G and A14 chip would most likely arrive in the first half of 2022. The expected new addition to the entry-level iPhone SE series will likely reuse a design known from the second-generation iPhone SE, or - more optimistically - the iPhone X and iPhone 11.
However, trusted leakster Ross Young claims that the iPhone SE 3 could be pushed back by as much as two years, making its potential release date sometime in 2024. Despite this, Apple may still be working on a budget iPhone for next year - rumored to be the iPhone SE Plus. According to Young, the iPhone SE Plus (2022) will feature the same 4.7-inch LCD display (as the iPhone 8) but would be upgraded with 5G connectivity.
We now hear the next LCD iPhone will be introduced in 2022 and called the SE Plus with the same 4.7" LCD as the 8 along with 5G. We hear the iPhone SE3 with a 5.7" - 6.1" LCD is now pushed to 2024. https://t.co/9gxiAAk8Yi
— Ross Young (@DSCCRoss) October 25, 2021If this is true, the next iPhone SE will also have a rather small battery, with a capacity of only 1821 mAh and a display resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels. The iPhone SE Plus will probably have an IP67 certificate, and the well-known Touch ID will be used to unlock the phone. While we expect the suggested retail price of the iPhone SE 3 to be PLN 2,199 (the same as the current iPhone SE (2020)), at the moment the price of the potential iPhone SE Plus is not known and it is difficult to speculate.

Is it worth waiting for the iPhone SE 3?
iPhone SE 3 will be released early next year. So it's worth considering whether it's worth waiting for a new model or maybe buying last year's model.
Apple's latest line of smartphones, the iPhone 13, is packed with amazing specs, but its hefty price tag makes it an impractical choice for many. In opposition, you can therefore consider buying the iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini or the budget iPhone SE (2020). Ultimately, it's also worth waiting for the iPhone SE 3.
At PLN 2,199, the iPhone SE (2020) remains the most affordable entry into the world of iPhones and iOS. It is worth noting, however, that the recent reduction in the price of the iPhone 11 to PLN 2,599 and the relatively low price of the iPhone 12 mini (PLN 3,149) are still very good offers. Nevertheless, you can find many Android-based smartphones at these and lower amounts. So the question is, is the iPhone SE 3 worth your attention?

iPhone SE 3 with USB-C port?
Last week there was quite a lot of talk about a foreign online auction where you could buy the world's first iPhone with a USB-C port. The amount for which those interested were able to buy this smartphone eventually reached over PLN 400,000. However, this should not be too much of a surprise - Apple users have been waiting for years for the moment when this company fully decides to implement the USB-C port in all its new products.
Recently, there has also been quite a lot of talk about the latest MacBook Pros, which - to the positive surprise of all fans - have brought back additional ports and an updated MagSafe connector. With this change in mind, one may wonder if Apple will continue to move in this direction?
I doubt that the Cupertino company has completely ignored the recent great interest in the iPhone X with a USB-C port. With this in mind, it can be assumed that the upcoming iPhone SE 3 or iPhone 14 models may have a USB-C port. Another likely option could also be to abandon the port entirely in favor of wireless technology. However, whether this will happen, it will turn out only next year during the premiere of these devices.

New iPhone SE Reportedly Launched in Q1 2022
According to Taiwanese research firm, TrendForce, Apple plans to release third generation iPhone SE in Q1 2022. If this timeframe proves to be accurate, we can expect the device to be released by the end of March.
According to previous rumors, TrendForce reports that the new iPhone SE will remain a mid-range smartphone with added support for 5G:
In terms of product development, Apple remains on track to release the third generation iPhone SE in the first quarter of 2022 and four models in the new series in the second half of 2022. The third-generation iPhone SE is expected to be a major tool to help Apple mark its presence in the mid-range 5G smartphone segment. Its production volume in 2022 is forecast at 25-30 million units.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously claimed that the new iPhone SE will have a similar design to the current model, which is based on the iPhone 8 - with a 4.7-inch display, home button and Touch ID, as well as thicker bezels frames. Kuo also said that key updates to the device will include support for 5G connectivity and a faster processor.
There have also been some rumors that Apple is working on a larger version of the iPhone SE, but this device is most likely to arrive in 2023 at the earliest.

Ming-Chi Kuo Reveals iPhone SE 3 Release Date
A well-known Apple analyst has just revealed the launch schedules for the company's upcoming devices. According to Ming-Chi Kuo (via 9To5Mac), Apple plans to release as many as three different versions of its smartwatch next fall: Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE 2, and a rugged version for athletes. In addition, the company plans to unveil the AirPods Pro 2, which will feature new built-in health-related sensors.
It's worth noting that Kuo was also rumored to have previously stated that Apple would be unveiling its VR/AR headset next year. However, the well-known analyst does not offer any specific details about each of the products mentioned above. Kuo also revealed details about the iPhone SE 3, which is rumored to launch sometime in early 2023.
It was previously rumored that the next iPhone SE would arrive with minor improvements over previous generations and would launch in 2022. However, Kuo believes that the next generation of the iPhone SE will arrive a year after its expected release date and - what's more - with major updates to its specifications. First of all, they will include a larger display, paired with 4 GB of RAM.

The premiere of the iPhone SE 3 is getting closer! Suppliers Begin to Prepare for Shipments
According to industry sources cited by DigiTimes, many component suppliers in Apple's supply chain have begun preparing to ship the third generation iPhone SE. The planned premiere of this smartphone is to take place in the first half of 2022.
The full report is yet to be released, but the preview reads:
VCM Suppliers See No Decrease in Orders for New iPhones: VCM and other component suppliers still see no reduction in orders for new iPhones.
Earlier this week, Ming-Chi Kuo said the new iPhone SE will feature the same 4.7-inch display and 3GB of RAM as the current model. It is also to have a Home button with Touch ID and thicker bezels. The iPhone SE update, however, is expected to include 5G support and a faster processor - presumably the A15 Bionic that debuted in the iPhone 13 models of the latest iPad mini.
According to the Taiwanese research company TrendForce, the new iPhone SE will be released in the first quarter of 2022. If this timeframe proves accurate, we can expect the device to be released by the end of March.
Rumours suggest that the premiere of the fourth generation iPhone SE is scheduled for 2023. This model is expected to bring more significant changes, including a larger display and 4GB of RAM. It is possible that this larger iPhone SE will feature a design based on the iPhone XR model.

A foldable iPhone in 2024? What about the SE model?
As Apple analyst Ross Young communicates, the foldable iPhone will most likely not appear until 2024. The company is working on a prototype for this new phone, which was evident from the fact that Samsung provided foldable display samples to Apple.
Based on previous reports, Apple's foldable iPhone will feature an 8-inch flexible OLED display. Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that Apple had begun work on this new device, but work so far has been limited to its display. While the company is a long way from the commercial launch of its first foldable smartphone, its rival Samsung has already established itself in the market and currently dominates this category of mobile equipment.
But what about the third generation iPhone SE? We still expect this one to arrive in March next year. It is speculated that it may receive a new old design known from the iPhone X, but there are also voices that Apple will present us the SE Plus model. If the Cupertino-based company does indeed release a foldable iPhone in the future, we most likely won't see a similar version of the iPhone SE in the next ten years.

iPhone SE 3 5G in Trial Production Soon
The affordable iPhone SE has been waiting for its next generation for a long time. In 2020, the iPhone SE was refreshed for the second time, receiving a new design known from the iPhone 7, as well as a better camera and processor. The Cupertino giant is expected to unveil the third generation iPhone SE sometime in 2022.
The latest report suggests that the premiere of the iPhone SE 3 (2022) may take place in the first quarter of 2022, most likely in March. Another report, coming from ITHome, confirms the latest rumors about the specifications of this smartphone, and also suggests that it will soon be in the trial production phase. At the same time, however, he contradicts earlier information that DigiTimes shared with us - they suggested that Apple would reduce production orders for the iPhone SE 3.

iPhone SE 3 (2022) without SIM card slot?
An anonymous tipster informed MacRumors that Apple is preparing to launch eSIM-only smartphones from September 2022. Tipster shared a seemingly credible document outlining the timeline for this initiative, though the document does not specifically mention Apple or iPhone models.
As part of the transition, some US mobile carriers will allegedly offer select iPhone 13 models without a nano-SIM card in the box in Q2 2022. In addition, iPhone 13 models sold in Apple stores or on Apple.com no longer have a nano-SIM card in the box.
Given the supposed September 2022 deadline, it's possible that Apple may remove the physical SIM card slot starting with some iPhone 14 models and eventually remove it completely with the arrival of the iPhone 15.
Then the question arises, what about the iPhone SE (2022)? In this matter, we probably have nothing to worry about, because Apple likes to recycle its devices. If next year's model is presented before the premiere of the iPhone 14, it will certainly be a well-known construction from the iPhone 8, iPhone X or iPhone 11. In this case, we are 100% sure that the card slot SIM will be present.
