iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and watchOS 8 are the latest "big" system updates from Apple. We present all the news and features. The full list of changes is really large and it is worth getting acquainted with it before switching to the new system. Interestingly, now the update option looks different.

You don't need to update to iOS 15. Apple will support iOS 14

For the first time ever, Apple will let users decide whether they want to install iOS 15 or stay on iOS 14 for an extended period of time. Leaving iOS 14 on means Apple will provide support, patching vulnerabilities, and fixing other security issues. New iOS releases always have high adoption, though, so Apple probably doesn't have to worry about adopting iOS 15.

Interestingly, updating to iOS 15 on iOS 14.8 looks like an optional system change. Apple suggests checking out a few new things in the Tips app first. However, at the very bottom of the screen we see the available iOS 15 update.

How to prepare for the update?

iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and watchOS 8 contain a large list of changes, so before each large update, it is worth protecting yourself against the loss of important data for us. You never know if the update will be successful. For this reason, some prefer to wait a few days or even weeks to find out how new systems work on other users' devices - by reading their reports and reports.

We have two options available to create a backup all the time. The first one assumes a full backup to the iCloud cloud, which is performed automatically when we have this option turned on in the smartphone settings, and the device is connected to charging, locked and is within the range of the Wi-Fi network.

The second known way is to use iTunes on Windows or the Finder on macOS. Here it is enough to connect the smartphone to the computer and use synchronization to download the most important data.

System updates can be downloaded by tapping the Settings icon, going to the General section, and then Updates.

iOS 15 - what's new in the system?

iOS 15 brings a dozen or so important novelties in the system with the logo of a bitten apple. Starting from changes in the FaceTime application and the possibility of sharing links for other platforms, support for Spatial Audio, Portrait mode after SharePlay, i.e. watching a movie, series and even activities within the system together.

We will receive new notifications, their grouping method or the Focus mode, which will allow us to better manage time and notifications in the do not disturb mode. A very good novelty is also the ability to read text from photos and automatically create links, search for information on the web and even create quick phone calls.

Another significant change is the completely redesigned Weather app, which includes tons of new weather information and data, and the displayed design is even more adapted to the time of day, weather conditions and time zone.

We can also count on improved Maps, minor improvements within the UI and new modes in the Camera.

With the launch of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, HomePod 15 and watchOS 8 also appeared.

iOS 15 introduces audio and video enhancements to FaceTime, including surround sound and Portrait mode. The Shared With You feature allows you to view articles, photos, and other shared content from your Messages conversations in similar apps. Focus modes can reduce distractions by filtering notifications based on what you're doing. Notifications have been redesigned and the new notification summary includes a collection of notifications so you can catch up. The maps provide a beautiful, redesigned look with a new 3D city look and augmented reality transition routes. Live Text uses built-in machine learning to recognize text in photos system wide and on the web. New privacy tools in Siri, Mail, and more give you transparency and more control over your data.

iPadOS 15 - what's new in the system?

watchOS 8 - what's new in the system?

The new edition of watchOS 8 is actually redesigned native Apple applications for the watch - Photos or Mindfulness (formerly Breath). Additionally, we have new shields (unfortunately, this time only a few); the ability to check the content of the notification without lifting the wrist, thanks to Always on Display or new workouts. There are not as many changes as you might think and looking at the update of the watch series itself, we know that this year you cannot count on spectacular news.
