To get this information, go to Settings -> General -> Information where a new section is available describing the history of replaced parts and services performed for a given device. There will be data such as the originality of the part, the date of service or the serial number of the spare part.

Exactly replaced parts will appear

Before the iOS 15.2 update, users only received information when non-genuine parts were installed. Most importantly, however, the section that allows you to view the history of parts and service will appear only when a part exchange service has been performed for a given device. Otherwise, this option will not be visible.

Fitting an unknown part will result in a warning indicator on the screen. The "Unknown part" message may appear if the component is not genuine, if it has been used in another phone, or if it does not work properly. Apple said that these messages are for informational purposes only, and the presence of unknown parts does not interfere with the operation of the device. Nevertheless, the company recommends using only original parts approved by the manufacturer.

This feature will help detect potential fraud

Depending on the iPhone model, the device may detect the status of various components in the settings. For iPhone XR, XS and later, only battery information will be available. In iPhones 11, both battery and display repair details will be reported. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models, in turn, will inform about the replacement of the battery, display and camera.

It was quite common practice in some repair services to install replacement components in iPhones, which allowed to save on original parts. From now on, users of this brand's devices, after leaving the service or repair point, will be able to check in the settings whether original parts have been installed in their phone.

Similarly, if a user is about to buy a used device, they can use this feature to quickly verify that the phone is being sold as advertised. The launch of the screen with this information is also intended to allow for the future introduction of a self-service repair program that will open up a much larger distribution channel for the sale and resale of genuine Apple parts.
