Recall: the screen of the iPhone 13 has been integrated with a special microcontroller with which Apple can remotely verify that the panel replacement was carried out at an authorized service center. If not, one of the key functions & hairsp; - & hairsp; Face ID & hairsp; - & hairsp; is disabled.
Such a change of policy sparked a huge wave of criticism. Screen replacement is one of the most common and easiest types of troubleshooting for smartphones. Preventing the replacement at home or even an unauthorized service would mean higher repair costs for customers, and for repair point owners a drastic reduction in revenues or even the necessity to close the business.
Fortunately, Apple has not remained deaf to criticism.

The Verge service received confirmation from Apple that the company plans to change its approach to repairs made in unauthorized repair shops.
After the software update, the iPhone 13 microcontroller will no longer verify who made the screen replacement, and thus it will not block the Face ID module.
Apple does not specify when the appropriate patch will appear. However, this should happen in the next few weeks.
