I use a TV every day, which may not be the latest, but most of its Smart functions are enough for me.There is access to YouTube, Netflix, HBO GO or Spotify.Despite this, I began to look for the TV starter, which could ultimately be used not only by me, but also my parents.I mentioned it in the text where, along with the other Dailweb editors, we exchanged the equipment for which we were going to plan during Black Friday.It is true that I did not buy anything then, but we received Xiaomi Mi TV Stick for testing.So I could see if it was a fairly cheap device that meets my expectations.

Assumptions

If I have a TV with Smart functions, why do I need a starter?Well, it is not always possible to reconcile the desire to watch a match with what others would prefer to watch :) Besides, my parents have a TV, where there is no system update for a long time, and most applications have been withdrawn.Therefore, they do not have access to YouTube, and Netflix is in a mega old version, the functioning of which leaves much to be desired.What's more, in my case the attachment would not be connected to the TV, but to the monitor, which I also use for work.Therefore, it is best that it was a relatively small device, not unnecessary for me space on the desk, but also mobile enough to remove them quickly and borrow them to my parents when I do not use it.It seemed to me that in this aspect Xiaomi Mi TV Stick would work best.

Xiaomi Mi TV Stick - Mobility

There is nothing to hide, Xiaomi Mi TV Stick is a small device that the term "mobility" is not foreign to.You can be tempted to compare it to a pendrive, but the older one - the latest models are aimed at miniaturization or LTE modem.You can easily connect it at home and also take it on vacation.Stick is small, it will not take up much space in the bag or backpack.This is a very big advantage of this device.The set with it includes a remote control, micro USB cable and charger.Even taking such a set, there is no question of unnecessary kilograms or taking a significant amount of space.This aspect is a plus.

Xiaomi Mi TV Stick - Pilot

I devote a special, but separate paragraph to the pilot attached to the set.It is very light, which I have already mentioned in the first impressions.The longer I stayed with him, his weight makes me forget about him - specifically that I keep him (you know - an engaging movie or a match).This lightness does not seem to have an impression with an uncertain device - on the contrary.The minimalism of the buttons, availability to them, are the next advantages of this pilot.We will not find any unnecessary keys on it that will raise doubts.It is simple and practically - this is how I associated with "Simply Clever" Skoda with this device.It's nice that it also allows you to quickly access Google assistant.This also makes the use of the device and additional functions of the assistant itself.

Xiaomi Mi TV Stick - Android TV and its functioning

On board Xiaomi Mi TV Stick we will find Android TV version 9.0.The first launch, combined with the system configuration, is quite simple.All you need is a phone call and using the Google assistant, which I "make friends" lately.If this does not suit us, then we can use the traditional configuration, i.e. cursing everything - M.in.access to WiFi, our Google account.I checked both ways - the first played a prank at the beginning, my phone and my tv stick did not see each other, but after the restart of both devices the problem disappeared.After the configuration, I restored the factory settings and tried the traditional road - it was trouble -free from the very beginning.

After the configuration, we have access to installed applications, which in my case required update.In addition to those already on board: YouTube and Netflix, I installed the Canal+ application.Due to the fact that I am their subscriber, I have the opportunity to freely use a service called "television online".This is a priority application for me - as I mentioned, the appetizer was to be a device for me to watch football games.You can think again now - why the appetizer?After all, you can turn on the computer and watch through the browser.Of course, you can, but the laptop will "eat" more electricity, and every time I want to change the channel, I will have to get up :).A pilot starter is a more convenient solution here, right?

We must remember that Xiaomi Mi TV Stick is equipped only with 1GB of RAM.Supports a maximum resolution of 1080p.We will not see 4K here.I didn't have such expectations either.To watch matches or Netflix - if you don't use the highest plan, 1080p was enough for me.I was a bit afraid of how I would deal with the Canal+ and "live television" application.However, I have never been disappointed.The application worked efficiently, without an additional delay - including its launch, selection of the channel and the start of the transmission.However, I noticed that after the very start of the device it is worth giving him a moment to get off.As soon as I turned on any application right after the start of Mi TV Stick - he caught a delicate slope.This may be the effect of the aforementioned 1GB of RAM.

Xiaomi Mi TV Stick - a disadvantage of HDMI connector

In my first impressions I have already mentioned the defect of Mi TV Stick, which was very bothering me.Well, the HDM connector that we will find in it is very short.This meant that for "good morning" I could not connect the starter to my monitor or my parents' TV.Maybe I will put it more specifically - it was possible to connect, but due to the surroundings of the HDMI port in the monitor and TV, the plugin did not enter the end, or stood out.Because of this, tv stick did not give a signal.This problem was solved by the HDMI extension cord.This must be paid to this during a possible purchase.

Is it worth buying Xiaomi Mi TV Stick?

Let's say directly, if someone has a fairly new TV with rich SMART functions, they will not look for the appetizer.These devices are addressed to people who have older TVs without such functions, or long -updated, as well as very often without 4K resolution support.For them Xiaomi Mi TV Stick will be a very good solution in terms of value for money.Even in my case, i.e. the ability to watch matches, or Netflix on the monitor, without the need to run a computer - this attachment worked very much.What's more, my parents also liked it and was fully enough.Let us remember that we are talking about a device that can be bought for PLN 149 in Polish distribution.In such situations, as I mentioned above, I recommend Xiaomi Mi TV Stick.However, if you expect something more, it is better to look for something a little stronger - I mean a box here.
