Xiaomi Mi 10 a (not) complete phone? Europe got neuter [UPDATE]

European Xiaomi Mi 10 phones do not allow the use of two SIM cards at the same time. However, there is a way for everything. Interestingly, the modification does not require messing with the motherboard.

Xiaomi Mi 10 is quite a loud smartphone due to the price. The device in the cheapest version 8/128 GB costs about PLN 3500 in Poland. This is much more than the predecessor (Mi 9), which at the time of its premiere on the Vistula River could be purchased for PLN 2,000.

In the package, however, we get flagship components, a 108 MP camera and great stereo speakers. However, there is a catch that many people don't know about. Interestingly, & hairsp; - & hairsp; does not apply to all instances.

Xiaomi Mi 10: dual sim not for Poles

The latest Xiaomi flagship, Mi 10, allows you to use the dual SIM function, i.e. the use of two operator cards at a time. Unfortunately, this is only possible with the Chinese variant.

According to the MIUIPolska website, Xiaomi Mi 10 in the European version was deprived of this possibility. Both variants are basically the same & hairsp; - & hairsp; the manufacturer has not decided to redesign the motherboard.

Instead ... one place in the tray for the SIM card has been blinded. The function has also been programmatically blocked in the global MIUI system, which is used by Polish and European models. What's more, the problem also applies to the richer (and even more expensive) version of the Mi 10 Pro.

Xiaomi Mi 10, however, can be improved. Fortunately, it doesn't require taking the case apart or soldering.

As I wrote, the motherboard of the Chinese and European versions of Mi 10 is basically the same. So you just need to buy a SIM card tray with a place for both cards, unlock the bootloader and upload the MIUIPolska software. The change of the system is admittedly a quite complex process. However, if someone cares about dual SIM and does not want to consider buying another smartphone, there is no other option.

Why did Xiaomi castrate the European Mi 10?

It can be suspected that Xiaomi in Mi 10 wanted to save on the SIM tray. It is more likely to cut costs on possible certifications. They are certainly more expensive than a plastic phone insert. Nevertheless, it is controversial that the Chinese allowed themselves to make such a compromise in a smartphone from the ceiling of about PLN 4,000.
