LG Electronics announced today that all LG premium smartphones in use today will receive up to three updates to the Android operating system. Counting from the year of their purchase.

A week ago, LG confirmed earlier rumors. The Korean concern is withdrawing from the further production of smartphones. Certainly, many of us will miss this brand. I must admit that LG models stood out from other smartphones, especially visually. Especially the Velvet series.

LG announces: top models will receive three Android system updates, LG will be leaving the mobile device industry by the end of July. The three OS update guarantee applies to LG premium smartphones released in 2019 and beyond (G series, V series, VELVET, Wing), while some 2020 models such as LG Stylo and K series will receive two system updates.

LG will continue to manufacture phones until the end of Q2 to meet its operator and partner contractual obligations. This means that customers can still purchase LG phones that are currently in stock from our reseller partners, and service support and security software updates will be provided for a limited period on some devices. Customers should contact their local LG Customer Service Center for additional details.
