- Here we are announcing the government program "Laboratories of the future". A program worth a billion zlotys for the competences of our children's future, for modern equipment that will go to all primary schools - said the Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek on Wednesday at a joint conference with the plenipotentiary of the Prime Minister for GovTech Justyna Orłowska, who is also the plenipotentiary of the minister of education and science for digital transformation.

- This is the largest investment of this type in the modernization of Polish schools, in the modernization of Polish education, in the competences of our children's future, emphasized the head of the Ministry of Education and Science.
They will receive funding later this year
- "Laboratories of the future" will go to all schools that want it, including those schools with less than 100 pupils. Also, these small schools in small towns have a chance, if they apply, to receive funds of at least PLN 30,000. PLN for the creation of "Laboratories" with equipment to create the competencies of the future - added Czarnek.

He pointed out that the announced initiative assumes that this year local governments running about 12,000 primary schools across Poland will receive funds to purchase at least modern tools, such as 3D printers, microcontrollers, robots, cameras, recording equipment.
- The Polish government has set itself the task of not returning to pre-pandemic school (...). We are going back to school with modern equipment - said Orłowska. She said that the catalog of equipment that can be delivered to schools has 150 items and is not closed, you can submit suggestions on what can be extended. The consultation will run until September 30.
Schools will have to apply
In order to receive support, schools will apply to their governing bodies, which will then apply to the competent voivode for support. In the applications, schools and local governments will provide only basic data, and the entire process will take place electronically. Applications will be reviewed (and support granted) on an on-going basis so that funding reaches schools as quickly as possible. The amounts given to schools will depend on the number of pupils who attend them.

The support will be provided in full in advance, without the need to make an own contribution. At the same time, at least 60 percent of support received by a given entity is planned to be spent by the end of 2021. and not more than 40 percent. - in 2022. According to the plan, applications will be accepted between the beginning of October and mid-November.
The program implements one of the postulates of the "Polish Order" and is financed from the COVID-19 Prevention Fund.
