WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app in the world today. Unfortunately, its development will mean that the application will soon stop working on some smartphones at the beginning of 2021.
There will be millions of such smartphones. These are all phones and tablets with Android 4.0.3 and earlier and Apple devices with iOS below version 9. The ability to run WhatsApp will no longer be available on Friday, January 1, 2021. It may seem like antiques, but there are still millions of such devices (not to look far: I still have a working tablet with Android 4.0.3). Certainly, some of the owners of these devices would like to use WhatsApp. After all, this messenger is already actively used by 2 billion people around the world. WhatsApp accounts for 44% of the mobile messaging market.
In order not to lose access to the communicator, we have two options. One of them is updating Android to a newer version, but the process is not always possible by the route designated by the manufacturer, and updating on your own is risky to say the least. It will be easier to just buy a new phone.

WhatsApp will get video and voice calls on the desktop
By the way, it is worth adding that soon WhatsApp will introduce the possibility of video and voice calls also on the desktop and in the browser. This method of chatting has been available in mobile applications since 2015, so it's high time. The conversation will look quite standard, you will be able to connect only to the microphone or also to the webcam. WABetaInfo portal shared the screenshot:
This feature is gradually being rolled out to some users. These features are currently in beta.
