Orange is preparing to enter the next edition of the Funbox modem intended for fiber optic connections.Funbox 6 will be available from January 28.
Finally a funbox with wi-fi 6
Funbox 6 will be available in fiber optic offers with a speed of 600 Mb/s and 1 Gb/s.His basic advantage overFunbox 3.0, which I currently use, is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax).This is a standard of data transfer, which provides much higher speeds than previous generations. When I tested the Wi-Fi 6 router in the apartment, I managed to send data at speeds close to Gigabit (on average 875 Mb/s) when I used Wi-Fi at a frequency of 5 GHz.I hope that the funbox 6 will be equally satisfactory.Funbox 6 supports 160 MHz width channels (He160 and VHT160) if they are available.
Funbox 3.0 with Wi-Fi 5 support (802.11ac) provides me with transfers around 300-400 Mb/s, but only when the neighbors sleep. In the block as in the block - there is a router in each apartment, and half of them are the same funboxes with the default configuration. To use the fully gigabit fiber optic connection, I connected the working computers with cables.Funbox 6 is to solve this problem. The modem has been equipped with Smart Wi-Fi-a function that will automatically select the network parameters for connected devices and external conditions.Orange does not yet explain how exactly this function works, but I suppose it is a combination of searching for the least crowded channel, selecting the width of the channel and the best frequency for connected devices.
Funbox 6: 7 antennas in a vertical housing
Another change that bodes well is Wi-Fi antennas.Funbox 6 is designed to work vertically.Inside there is 7 antennas with the possibility of directional transmission, which should provide better range than a flat funbox 3.0.Of course, there were also four Gigabit Ethernet ports and RJ-11 connector to connect the VoIP phone. There is also a USB 3 socket.0, to which you can connect a portable disk. The television tuner can be connected with a cable or wirelessly.
The dimensions of Funbox 6 are larger thanFunbox 3.0, but maybe thanks to the vertical work position, customers will not feel it.I know what I will feel personally when Funbox 6 is already in my apartment. It's about backlight.Funbox 3.0 has 7 bright lights on the front.Funbox 6 has only three and from visualization I guess that they will not be so bright.Under them there is a WPS button and a physical Wi-Fi button-just like on my current Funbox 3.0.
See: Wi-Fi 6E: What will it give us and if it will be faster Wi-Fi at 6 GHz? See: Fiber at home: I have and I do not regret. It is worth using FTTH
Funbox 6 is already going to me.I will check it with a 1 Gb/s connection and a few Wi-Fi devices 6.If you have any questions, leave a comment under the article.I will try to answer all in the modem test.
