Motorola Edge 20 Pro debuted in the summer in the Hawaiian atmosphere of Warsaw Wilanów
If you find out, there is still a bit to be refined and in a very important element, but hopefully Motorola will not get off the good path that she entered.I am happy because my experience with the previous Motorola Edge Pro model was unfortunately not the best, although it could be the fault of the test copy.
Design is a balance of simple and elegant and functional structure
Motorola Edge 20 Pro is a well -balanced smartphone. It weighs 190 grams, but gives the impression of lighter. It arranges very well in his hand, even with a silicone cover, which unfortunately adds additional millimeters to it.But I will not complain about this element, unless it was faster than I expected dirt.
The phone has a flat display without rounding on the edges, which evokes simple constructions, with a flagship character, but what the display presents, i.e. an OLED with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels with 144 Hz refreshing and supporting HDR10+, dispels doubts.A real feast awaits our eyes. This was the result of paper specification, I can say the same after hours of watching movies with the help of this phone.
Contrary to the name Motorola Edge 20 Pro, it was not equipped with a curved screen on the edges
Let's go back to the structure first. On the front on the screen we have only one centrally placed eyebuilding eyelets for selfie, which draws attention to a much lesser extent than two lenses in G100.The flat screen is basically an advantage, because you do not have to rummage in the menu to adjust the display of images that can look uncomfortable on curved displayes.
In fact, the rest of the structure seems to be more like a telephone directed to a less demanding user in terms of sophisticated style, but in practice I found that this is one of the prettier Motorola I was dealing with.I was a bit irritated by a square aperture of the telephoto lens, but at least you immediately know which lens we will capture one of the better close -ups in the class of photographic smartphones.Because you probably should evaluate this phone, after all, in addition to 108 Mpix of the main camera sensor, we also have an ultrazeroki angle and most importantly a telephoto lens from OIS.
On the bottom edge there were a nanosim card slot.Unfortunately, we will not expand here built -in memory as in Moto G100, although 256 GB should satisfy everyone. As well as 12 GB of RAM, which interestingly can be expanded, as in cheaper phones of other brands with an additional 3 GB borrowed from mass storage. The sense of such action with such a capacious frame, however, seems doubtful.
Next to the slot we have a USB 3.1 type C port, which can also play the role of DisplayPort 1.4.Thus, we can connect to an external display without additional adapter -like goodies. At the bottom there is still a microphone hole and a speaker grill.Unfortunately, the only speaker for audio reproduction.A decent, but not standing out from the competition. The speaker at the top is just a handset for telephone conversations. At the top we only have the hole of the second microphone.
Near the corner of the housing on the left edge there is a button activating the Google assistant. It is a pity that it cannot be deactivated with it, because then it would be perfect in situations where we do not want to have an active waking up.On the right edge of the aluminum housing frame we have volume control buttons and the switching button integrated with a very efficient fingerprint reader.
Motorola Edge 20 Pro performance. All you have to do is have the second fastest processor on the market (or something similar)
Once the premieres of new Motorola were immediately a guarantee that we would see average chipsets in them.Still, most new models of this brand do not sin with high performance, but in the end we can also choose in very efficient ones.

Motorola Edge 20 Pro has the same Snapdragon 870 5G chipset as the Moto G100 mentioned. In that phone we praised the speed of work, the efficiency of the user interface and it is difficult to speak differently in the case of the phone described in this material.Motorola Edge 20 Pro is a smartphone that will not disappoint us in this respect.

Jakość filmów5.4Jakość zdjęć5.1Jakość wykonania5.5It should be noted, however, that with longer work under heavy load, when the chipset begins to heat up, the phone's performance decreases.A dozen or so percent, sometimes more. This does not affect the user's experience, but it must be mentioned.
The results in synthetic tests as well as practical experience actually make you wonder why Snapdragon 888+, which is an even more efficient unit in the new Moto G200 5G, and the answer is Ready For, or Motorola's idea to change the smartphone with a microcomputer. With this use of the performance of performance, never too much.
Ready for function available both on the cable and wirelessly
In a box with a phone I found a ready for set, but I didn't need it at all.Yes, if you need an adapter in a USB type C on HDMI, you will not go without the attached set, but if you have a cable with a USB type C connector on both sides and the appropriate monitor or TV can be connected directly in Display Port 1.4 mode.In addition, Ready For also works in a wireless variant when our television receiver or projector is in line with the Miracast standard.
Guide and switch of modes of operation when connecting a phone call in a monitor or TV
Ready for works like the desktop mode on Huawei phones. After connecting to the PC (necessary installation of the Ready for application from Motorola), we can create a mirror copy of the screen content, but also launch the window environment that uses the phone's resources. There is also an option to work with a phone as a webcam. This is a useful solution, because such a camera gives more possibilities than a camera usually built into a laptop or an external webcam.
The smartphone can be used as a tool for control, but the optimal solution is to use your own Bluetooth keyboard and mouse paired with Motorola Edge 20 Pro.There is even a suitable set of accessories, but you will not buy it in Poland
Ready for is a function/tool that is still at the developmental stage and some things can not yet be done (e.g. copying from the Ready For Computer window), but the chosen path is good.In this way, for example, you can increase the comfort of working with such applications on your phone as Adobe Lightroom. But beware, in desktop mode, the phone is treated as a tablet or PC, and then some applications may work differently. For example, free on Office smartphone suddenly requires a license or use of web applications.
Ready for options when connecting to a computer
This is what the smartphone desk on the computer looks like. The only difference compared to a connection without a computer mediation is a blue beam at the top of the screen and the ability to work in the window
From pure Android to My UX with an increasing number of Motorola tools
Motorola joined Android One in time and even showed telephones with him compatible, including the Motorola One tested by us.However, it was quickly found that Android itself does not necessarily match the nature of Motorola devices, which is why the Myux overlay was created, which is still developing in the right direction. One of its advantages is a large number of options for adjusting the user interface and such flavors as a rotating main screen when changing the orientation of the phone (not on every phone it works).
Selection of applications available by default on Motorola Edge 20 Pro
Modified system and interface colors
Dark mode, light mode, RAM BOOST function, which adds 3 GB RAM from the phone's memory
We still get a phone with a large number of pre -installed Google tools, but in the settings you can feel the spirit of Moto. And you have to admit that this is a good connection, although I would personally prefer to have Google photos to have my own Motorola application. There is also no independent video player here, the smartphone uses the Google Files application and the built -in tool.
Using Google services, you must remember that, as they are configurable to a large extent, you can easily forget that many things synchronize with the network and our other devices.Sometimes it's a big plus, sometimes something undesirable.
The game mode not only allows you to conquer the chipset performance, but also to adapt the reaction of the phone during the game
Currently, on Motorola Edge 20 Pro phones, we have Android 11 with July updates from July. It's a bit weak, because it's already the end of November. It seems that the manufacturer has not attached the importance of the device's safety element since the premiere. And yet so much was said about him during the premiere of Moto G200 5G.
Security updates have not been added since July.Pity
A few more words about the Motorola Edge 20 Pro display
OLED screen resolution in Motorola Edge 20 Pro with a 6.7 -inch diagonal is 1080 x 2400 pixels. So quite standard, demanding users would even say that on average. And yet this display catches the eye from the first moment.A very clear picture, very good color reproduction, although not exemplary (in natural color mode, loyalty is much higher, but then the image is less saturated, and not everyone will like it), what more could you want.
Of course, HRR function. In this case, we get a maximum of 144 Hz, although they need to be forced in the settings. When working in dynamic selection of refresh rate, the maximum value changes from 60 to 120 Hz.What refreshing the screen works with the impact, as always, the application is running. We will experience the highest values in games when browsing the Internet, while when watching movies they will fall to 60 Hz.
Batts also belong to video application producers.Such Netflix, for example, does not support HDR in its player, although the Motorola display is in line with HDR10+.Such selective treatment of products by Netflix is not new, but the more good screens in phones and other devices, the more it irritates.Similar problems were in Amazon Prime Video.
Motorola Edge 20 Pro user may have the impression that the screen is not very bright. This is primarily a consequence of the very non -linear characteristics of the brightness slider. With the brightness turned off in the car mode we get:
Automation mode is able to conquer light up to 680 rivets, but the sensor reacts quite sluggishly to brightness changes and does not always get the expected darkening or brightening of the screen.
Battery life?If charging was as good as he would, it would be great
Motorola Edge 20 Pro surprised me very positively in terms of battery life.Over 18 hours of surfing on the internet, 22 hours of video playback is even with a 4500 mA battery, the result worthy of praise.Tests with a refreshment of 144 Hz instead of auto mode gave worse results, but it is still difficult to get here the words of any criticism. In addition, at night, when the phone was not used, but it had Wi-Fi and other goodies turned on, the battery unloaded to a small extent.
Did I miss something then?Yes, although you can consider it exaggerated expectations. And not so much the wireless charging function as the implemented ultra -flesh function. It is true that the 30 W charger is still quite a strong device, but with such good battery performance, a better picture of the whole would create charging lasts much less than well over an hour (80 minutes). For comparison, the Moto G100 loaded even more slowly (taking into account the more spacious battery). In addition, with such good battery performance and the ability to enable, if necessary, battery saving options, we will not suffer from a lack of energy during the day.
Progress in charging is, it cannot be forgotten that an even faster 50W charger was used in the lower positioned Moto G60S.In turn, the 33W charger, theoretically similar to Moto G200 5G, as in Motorola Edge 20 Pro.
It is worth mentioning that the cable attached to the charger is in this case a cable with a USB type C connector on both sides. The new computers already have such connectors, sometimes also led out on the front panel in the case of desktops, but for older devices you will need an additional cable. And then we can lose a bit on the speed of wired data transfer if we use a poor quality cable.
And finally photos and videos.Did Motorola finally deserve praise?
The application of the camera, on which a lot depends on each smartphone, and sometimes even everything, in the case of Motorola has undergone a long evolution. From a simple Google tool to a refined tool with a functional functional as in the competition.
Camera interface in photo mode
Camera interface in a movie mode with an active hand -up menu
A characteristic feature of the camera application is access to basic settings in photo or video mode, including resolution, lamps, self -timer, which hides under the arrow button between the shutter button and touch buttons for the zoom value selection buttons. It is a solution that was also present in the G100.The issue of choosing the photography mode is similar. The sliding list is under the shutter but not above other phones.
The above, however, is a thing that you can get used to, which in fact turns out to be very practical. For this, I could not accept a letter with settings in the camera menu, which must be developed each time to access the settings.Fortunately, he looks there rarely there.
More important, however, on the phone, which is treated like a flagship, is what he brings technologically. And so in Motorola Edge 20 Pro we have:
In addition, the main camera is able to record 8K/24p movies, as well as 4K/60p.In the case of an ultra -ultra -angle apparatus and telephones, we can also film, but only in 1080/30P mode. The front camera allows filming in a maximum resolution of 4K/30P.
The theoretically tested phone is equipped with everything you need to make the photos delight us.Compared to Motorola Edge+, i.e. the actual predecessor, the size of the main sensor and the brightness of the lens are slightly weaker, but with good software these are negligible differences. The lack of OIS in the main camera may be a greater downside, but practice shows that its lack is not always an obstacle.
Motorola Edge 20 Pro cameras in practice. You basically rated it yourself
More important than discussing differences, is the assessment of how Motorola Edge 20 Pro falls in practice.A certain, though certainly subjective reference point, are your grades issued in the blind test of smartphone apparatus.
Motorola gathered solid whips there in general, without division into photographic categories, but when such a classification occurred, the resulting assessment was more indulgent. And this reflects the actual status quo in the case of Motorola Edge 20 Pro.You have to give her a chance to show herself in various photographically situations. In addition, it is only compared to other phones that you still need to work on camera software. It is better than it used to be, but there is one step remained for the grades to jump to a higher level, and real competition with the best has gained blushes.
Photo from the main camera
Photo on an ultra wide viewing angle
Assessment of the photo function incomparably with the competition, ends with a good rating of the main camera and telephoto lens (this one could probably compare even with constructions in Huawei phones, but many harm is caused by aggressive compression when saving photos) and decent results for the ultra -angle camera during the day.At night, only the main camera is doing well, but also for other manufacturers the good work of all cameras at night is not something obvious either.
Evening photography from the main camera
It is also good that the manufacturer did not try to put on the back wall of the macro camera. The performance of the ultra -angle camera operating in the macro mode may not be cosmic, but better than a "dedicated camera".
Examples of macro
It can be said that Motorola Edge 20 Pro users will be satisfied with photographic results, unless they focus especially on the use of cameras other than the main cameras in difficult lighting conditions. In addition, failures in the case of scenes with a very high tonal span if they become noticeable, it is rather a matter of image processing, not electronics restrictions.
Below are some examples of photos taken in various situations.
Filming. It's not bad, it is 8K and the electronic stabilization works decently
Motorola tried to provide us with a maximum of video resolutions, but there was no good luck such as HDR for the highest resolution. It is a pity, because since the screen is in line with HDR10+, properly recorded clips would look delicious on such a screen.Movies in 8K resolution look great, 4K have fewer details, but they are still very retail shots that deserve a good rating.Only with FullHD films become contrasting, tarry in the shadows, although they still look good on the small screen.
Resolution up to 4K/30P in the main camera, and maximum fullHD in the other two on the back of the back wall can also be launched with the active function of electronic stabilization. In the front camera, stabilization works only in FullHD resolution. As you can expect in this mode, we have a large part of the frame, but the effectiveness of stabilization is very good.
In turn, in 60p modes, quite frequent attempts to correct the focus can be seen, which in effect is manifested by the so -called image pumping and a broken reception of recordings.
Super -divided mode that raises doubts
Displaced modes to 960 fps have been a function for some time that producers of "better" photosmartphones boast. It is also present in Motorola Edge 20 Pro, but in my opinion it raises some doubts. The film registered at this pace compared to Huawei Mate 40 Pro seems slightly blurred, which aroused me suspicions that either the optics is a failure, or 960 fps is a bit pulled.
The support of this thesis is the fact that on the Huawei phone, the maximum slowed video is recorded only by a short fragment of a few seconds of the clip.It is not possible to change the moment of registration, therefore you have to rely on either detection of traffic or your own reflection.Meanwhile, in Motorola we get a fairly long video, from which you can choose any part of it for the maximum slowed part.Oddly enough, we can't save the whole video as slowed down, which is surprising if you can do it with any fragment of it.
This is of course the least troublesome thing in Motorola Edge 20 Pro, but always a reason to think about in the why.
Summary. You can see that Motorola is old, but on the flagship it is still not enough
I haven't been as happy with Motorola's phone as in Edge 20 Pro, a long time ago, and that means a lot, because I'm not an avid fan of this brand. In fact, I didn't even feel that I use Motorola and in my opinion it is good.Of course, the advantages of Moto such as the gesture of starting the flashlight by shaking I still have in the blood, but this is not the only phone with such a function.
Motorola is increasingly seeing that she can make a good phone, although she still stands halfway to his destination. Therefore, in the case of Edge 20 Pro, the manufacturer did not avoid some shortcomings, such as the lack of a microSD card slot or a mono speaker, which does not match the great display. It seems like Motorola engineers were scared that they could come out a very good phone and decided to "spoil" something in it, "forget" about something.
It is definitely a flagship in the Motorola offer, but in general I would use this term sparingly.I would also carefully criticize the photo-video subsystem, which makes many reviewers.Because it is a good camera and a good camera that will satisfy users. And yet still a step for the best competition in your price segment, which unfortunately is visible immediately when we try to compare Edge 20 Pro with other photosmartphones.
Is it worth buying Motorola Edge 20 Pro?
For Motorola lovers, Edge 20 Pro will definitely be a good proposition regardless of the price that stays at an unchanged level from this year's summer premiere. It places this product in the higher average price shelf segment (from 3 to 3.5 thousand zlotys).
If it was cheaper, and such highly reduced offers can be found on the web (perhaps because of Black Week), then other users should be interested in this product and this brand, because it's a solid phone.Only not so good to get my ruthless recommendation.
