This unexpected information will be shared by Fred Wangfei, head of the Austrian branch of Huaweia. Specific arguments were made in an interview with Der Standard. Huawei has stopped trusting Trump's humor and does not want to risk that the ban could return again in the future. Therefore, the company prefers to cut itself off completely from Google.
Instead of focusing on returning to Google, Huawei intends to develop its own services. In the era of a well-established division of the Android and iOS market, it may seem that there is no room for a third player, but Huawei believes in its strength and intends to create a third ecosystem.
For now, Huawei still intends to rely on open-source Android that can be used by everyone. However, Huawei wants to build its own store and its own service ecosystem. The Chinese manufacturer in Poland alone intends to spend $ 10 million. in the development of the App Gallery, i.e. its own store that is an alternative to Google Play. This money will go to developers. This is to attract development studios to create ports for their applications compatible with the Huaweia store.
The strategy is ambitious. Perhaps too ambitious.
Huawei puts its mobile business on the edge of a knife. If the idea from the App Gallery burns out, Huawei will achieve something that no Android smartphone manufacturer has: complete independence from Google. However, if the idea does not work out, Huawei may as well collapse its mobile business from Europe and the United States, where customers are not interested in buying smartphones with non-working Google.
It will take several long years to free yourself from Google, which may prove to be skinny years for Huaweia. It can be a big change, especially recently after Huawei has overtaken Apple globally, only lagging behind Samsung. A company of this caliber, with such substantial revenues, is certainly prepared to survive a worse period. Huaweia's move is very surprising and we will certainly observe the next steps of the Chinese manufacturer.
Update 1/31/2020 Huawei denies
A Huawei spokesman sent a statement to The Verge in which he denied the whole situation. Huawei says it will return to Google services if the ban is lifted. At the same time, the spokesman admits that Huawei is ready to create its own ecosystem.
This is a puzzling statement. Let us remind you that Fred Wangfei, the Austrian boss of Huaweia, left no doubt that the company does not intend to return to Google services. After the publication, the author of the text commented on Twitter, where he emphasized that during the conversation with Wangfei he was delving into the topic because he himself was surprised by such a firm position of the Huaweia management board.
As you can see, two extremely different positions of the company appeared in a very short time. Perhaps Huawei on a global level felt that the statement of the Austrian branch was too strong and unequivocal, so it should be softened. Huawei wants to leave a door to return to Google.
