After Joe Biden won the presidential election in the United States, the relations from the USA clearly weakened. Our nuclear weapon in disputes with America can be ... Huawei - says Dr. Błażej Sajduk in an interview with DGP.
Joe Biden's win was associated with several United States decisions, which the Polish government was assessed negatively. The new president primarily withdrew from the sanctions on Nord Stream 2, which was imposed by the administration of Donald Trump.Poland, however, does not lose tender cards.

As he argues in an interview with Dziennik Gazeta Prawna dr Błażej Sajduk, a collaborator of the new confederation, assistant professor at the National Security Department of the Jagiellonian University, one of these cards is Huawei. You can play it, recognizing the Chinese manufacturer as a high -risk supplier and excluding it from the construction of 5G or on the contrary - allowing it.Such possibilities are created by the amendment to the Act on the National Cybersecurity System (KSC).
Suppliers' certification is a convenient tool for the American fair.If they do something that we don't like - they will move the military presence to Romania - we suddenly find that we can positively assess some part of Huaweia devices
- says Dr. Błażej Sajduk.
The expert lists Huaweia as a means of Poland's pressure on the USA next to Lex TVN or the decision to buy Abrams tanks. He considers the Chinese company a strong card that can be played differently. If the American policy is consistent with our interests, the Polish government will exclude Huaweia. If the dispute lasts, we will allow the Chinese company to make Washington see that it will not go with us so easily - convinces Sajduk.
According to the interlocutor, DGP, the fact that the Polish government apparently rejected Lex TVN does not mean that we are back in the American club and Huawei will not be able to build a 5G network. The Polish government has no interest to dispel the uncertainty regarding the admission of this company for the construction of 5G, and will treat it for a long time, as a bargaining card.
This is a cold political calculation. And that's probably why the government does not listen to the market vote
- said Dr. Błażej Sajduk.
The expert also agreed with the interpretation suggested by DGP that the government, excluding Huaweia, sells it as a defense of sovereignty and cyber security, but operators will pay for everything and as a result their clients.
Huawei is our nuclear weapon, which the government holds in the event of a deterioration of relationships with America
- convinces the expert.
Dr. Błażej Sajduk also points out that playing Huawei can be dragged even if the further construction of 5G in Poland will start without the participation of a Chinese company.Certification process, withdrawal of equipment, possible Huawei references to the decision - all this can be dragged for several years, longer than the parliamentary term.
The expert also interestingly presented the motivations of the Chinese. In his opinion, 5G is a political matter:
In the construction of previous generations, the Chinese were squeezed like a lemon: for patents, license fees.Even while producing equipment at home, they had to give away from a dozen to several dozen percent of its value in this way. When it came to 5g, they said enough - and now they want to squeeze the rest of the world. What not everyone is able to accept with.
