LG and quick updates? The Korean manufacturer has been struggling with the same problem of slow implementation of new versions of the system for several years. Even the launch of a special update center did not help, which turned out to be only a purely marketing creation. While the security patches are released relatively solidly and something has shifted here (my private LG G7 ThinQ received April patches in mid-April, not in July), waiting for a new version of the system may lead to doubts and irritation for fans of this brand. LG uses the same technique every year: updates of older phones appear only around the premiere of the new generation of equipment and the priority market is only South Korea - other countries sometimes have to wait even a quarter or longer. There is another story with the LG V40 ThinQ.
advertisementThis phone made its debut in the US on October 18 last year, in Europe only in February. The premiere took place a lot after the release of the new version of Android 9.0 Pie, which was made available relatively quickly, among others. for the then OnePlusy 6 / 6T and it would be more sensible to test the Q version at this time, not P. It was a big surprise, therefore, to equip a relatively good phone with ... the already old Oreo 8.1 operating system. The manufacturer promised a "quick" update. More than seven months had to pass from these words, yes, I will write it again: seven months for the first operator in the USA (here: Verizon) to release the official system update. As a consolation, the upgrade, apart from the new version of Android and April security patches, adds a few new system functions. Unfortunately, this is not the level of changes known from the Samsung overlay, but rather a cosmetic. Anyway, Huawei did a similar thing, for whose devices the update to Android 9.0 Pie also did not bring much news, and the most interesting change was the new analog clock in the alarm application.
So what's interesting in the new version of the system? The update includes all the changes made by Google in the ninth version of Android, as well as some minor interface tweaks and new features, including:

The operation of the Gallery has been improved:
General improvements:
This hotfix is V405UA20a and is the fourth fix pack for the LG V40 ThinQ in the US. Taking into account the experience of the previous year, an update in Europe should appear in the coming weeks, possibly in early June.
As always, it is worth checking if the new version of the system is no longer available on LG servers through the LG Bridge PC application. Usually, the updates are available on the server one week before they are sent to the OTA channel and update from the phone settings.
Finally, LG should be praised for at least one step: LG G8 ThinQ was the first LG phone (not counting Nexus) to receive support under the beta program for Android 10 Q and already runs on the latest Google software. Only that this phone has not yet been released in Poland, and it is to appear only ... in September, instead of - as so far - in May.
