The operator Verizon has launched 5G communication in two US cities. The speed of the Internet is not maximum yet, but it is already impressive. The Verizon network is only running in test mode for the time being.
Verizon 5G internet testing takes place in real conditions. Anyone can judge coverage on the streets of Chicago and Minneapolis. All you need to do is find a smartphone that supports next-generation connectivity. Journalist Engadget used a Moto Z3 with a special 5G module for this.
As for the tested 5G locations, it is currently working unevenly. You have to walk around the city and look for the maximum reception level - but if you can find this place you can get blazing internet speed - around 600 MB / s.
In this way, the journalist downloaded the game PUBG Mobile, which weighs 1.81 GB, on a smartphone, which took 4:30 minutes. For comparison - via LTE internet the game was downloaded within 8 minutes.
For now - according to Endgadget - the network is not stable yet. You have to look for coverage for a long time and constantly check if the phone has not switched to the slower LTE standard.
It is also worth adding that the speed around 600 MB / s - this is not the maximum of 5G. For comparison - the new Snapdragon X55 processor from Qualcomm - supports internet speed up to 7 GB / s. Operators still have a lot of work to do to adapt their infrastructure to such fast transmissions, increase the range and available speeds.
